Garlic chives (Allium tuberosum) is a relatively new vegetable in the English-speaking world but well-known in Asian cuisine, the flavor of garlic chives is more like garlic than chives[2], though much milder. Both leaves and the stalks of the flowers are used as a flavoring similarly to chives, green onions or garlic and are used as a stir fry ingredient.

Sow seeds indoors in spring in trays of potting compost 1½cm (½in) deep and 10cm (4in) apart.
Sow outdoors in June in drills 1½cm (½in) deep.

Transplant indoor seedlings in July and thin outdoor seedlings to 15cm (6in) apart.

Cut the leaves of garlic chives in as required between April and September[3] once they are 15cm (6in) tall.[4]
