Brazilian starfish is a much sought after variety of chilli and a very unusual variety due to its uniquely shaped peppers. The baccatum pepper species originated in Peru, but this variety was domesticated in Brazil. This tall plant has a weeping, vine-like habit and produces good yields of 2cm (¾in) long by 4½cm (1¾in) wide starfish-shaped peppers that are very pungent. The peppers mature from green to red approximately 90 days after transplanting. The white flowers of this plant are also very attractive with the distinctive Baccatum greenish-yellow markings.[1] [4] [3]
Growing[]
Slow to yield, but by the end of the season, amazingly prolific. Ideal temperature ranges from 70 - 95 F with a minimum of 8-12 hours of sun and normal watering. [4] [3]

Culinary[]
Brazilian starfish boasts complex floral and fruity tones that are perfectly offset by medium heat. Expect surprises when snacking on this pepper. The fruit varies in heat but often medium spicy. The star-shaped fruits can have variable heat, sometimes exceeding that of jalapeños, but most are juicy and more often sweet. These crispy, crunchy and fruity peppers perfect for pickling or just eating raw in salad.[4] [3]
