The Chile de árbol (Spanish for tree chili) is a small, but potent Mexican chilli pepper. These chilis are about 5-7cm (2-3in) long, and ½-1cm (¼-⅜in) in diameter. Their heat index is between 15,000 and 30,000 Scoville units. The peppers are a bright red color when mature.[2]
